Souls Chapel

Not going to go into any great detail here.  But, there’s a really spooky place in my community.  It’s called Souls Chapel.  It was a story about a preacher gone bad and worshipping Satan until the locals killed him.  Then things got creepy.  I lived real close to Souls Chapel for a while.  I had to move.  A local guy has… (more…)

Joe Lunardi can’t read very well

Was trying to enjoy some mindless chatter on ESPN, but Joe Lunardi ruined it real quick: Kentucky, which figures to leapfrog the Orange in the polls, remains No. 2 where it counts. Both teams have one loss, but ‘Cuse has it all over the Wildcats in every meaningful category. A closer look at the stats at the time he wrote… (more…)

Bad things happen when IU beats UK

Indiana beats Kentucky for the first time in about a decade last week.  After it was over, IU fans rushed the floor. Apparently Megan Dills, a huge UK fan, got roughed up in the melee.  What makes this story Moonagian is the fact that Miss Dills is a Playboy model.  That got my interest on the Foxnews page.  BUT, Foxnews ran… (more…)

NCAA hearts a couple of teams

The brackets are out for the 2011 NCAA Tournament.  Struck me as odd a couple of teams locations since the NCAA supposedly does not like giving teams a home court advantage.  Well, they did to a large degree.  How far would you drive on a whim to watch your team play in the tournament?  A couple of hours is no… (more…)

Alexandria Mills

Kentucky has given the world another treasure.  Miss World to be precise: Alexandria Mills is from Louisville, Kentucky.  She beat out contestants from all over the world.  I can see why too! Pic Sources: Fashion Model Directory. Miss World

When refs go bad

The Kentucky Cornell game started with a Cornell player giving a Kentucky player a two-handed shove almost out of the arena, and climaxed with a two-handed take down of Demarcus Cousins by a Cornell player.  The first wasn’t called at all, the second was merely a foul.  You know when the officiating sucks about as bad as it can when… (more…)

Cornell’s blueprint for beating Kentucky?

Stephen Danley, because he played basketball in college, is a sports writer for the paper most likely to get something wrong every single time.  His take on tonight’s Kentucky-Cornell game: It was Cornell’s near win against Kansas early in the season that made me, like a lot of other people, pencil the Big Red in for a victory in the… (more…)

The Non-Call

1992 – Duke was ranked #1 pre-season, and despite two close losses, remained #1 the entire season.  Kentucky was coming off a two year suspension with a brash young coach named Rick Pitino and manned by a bunch of kids who had remained loyal to UK and stayed through the suspension: Richie Farmer John Pelphrey Darren Feldhouse Sean Woods The… (more…)

The annual bash the NCAA selection committee post

OK, here’s the scenario:  Florida has a disappointing season.  They come in fourth in the SEC East.  In the SEC tournament, they beat the second worst team in the SEC, then lose to Mississippi State.  No conference title, no tournament title.  Mississippi State on the other hand, wins the SEC West, beats Florida in the tournament, and eventually takes #1… (more…)

Bad refs, part infinitum

Last night was yet another example of why we need ref pressers after games. South Carolina player goes in for an uncontested putback, foul is called. John Wall is knocked completely out of bounds with a full body contact block attempt.  No foul is called. On the subsequent inbounds pass, Cousins is called for a hand check.  Even the announcers… (more…)
