Dark Shadows

Long before Twilight hit the movies, we had another vampire/werewolf/macabre soap opera: House of Dark Shadows was campy, dark, everything Twilight shoots for.  I left Twilight and New Moon feeling empty.  Just seemed like it sucked the soul right out of me.  A soap opera featuring vampires, werewolves, and other campy creatures could be so much more.  Granted True Blood is,… (more…)

Too Hot for the Super Bowl?

We’ve been down this road before.  A boob is exposed during a game exploiting broken bones and guys grabbing each others butts for any given reason, the world is aghast.  This is this year’s version of the Janet Jackson nipple slip: ‘Veggie Love’: PETA’s Banned Super Bowl Ad NBC decided it was too racy and suggested PETA remove all references… (more…)

Michelle Kosinski strikes again!

I enjoy Newsbusters almost as much as Mythbusters.  They’re a hoot at pointing out factual errors in reporting.  And, they LOVE picking on MSNBC.  Good reason to, MSNBC is a classic at bad reporting.  However, in their haste to show how wrong today’s headline was, I think they missed the obvious chuckle of the day.  To wit, a young girl… (more…)

Miley Cyrus apologizes again and again

Miley Cyrus is apologizing to anyone who’ll listen over this photo.  I am clueless.  What’s wrong with it?  Now, I get the Disney/pure as the driven snow image she has to portray for Hannah Montana.  But to me, this pic is pretty much pure as the driven snow.  There’s nothing suggestive, nothing inappropriate, and not really any critical skin exposed. … (more…)

Ramiele Malubay’s racy lesbian pic?

Oh puh-lease.  Can one single American Idol season go by without some concocted and contrived “scandal”?  Here’s this season’s scandal:   That is supposed to be Ramiele Malubay’s lesbian scandal.  She’s not naked.  They’re not having sex.  They’re not even kissing.  This redefines the L word for lameness.  The other two “scandals” so far haven’t gone anywhere at all, so… (more…)

Bad judgement

Yesterday during the Kentucky – Arkansas game, with the 30 seconds left and the game on the line, CBS cut away to the Duke game.  Now, it’s bad enough to cut away from the game everyone here wanted to see.  But, to suddenly be watching Duke?  After I imagine several thousand irate phone calls, they cut back to the UK… (more…)

The Emmy’s are NOT for kids

According to most news reports, Sally Field got an Emmy last night.  In addition, she got to make a speech.  In that speech, she decided to get political.  When she got political, she decided she needed to hammer home her point with expletives.  Not to be outdone by gutter talk, at least a couple of other awardees got edited for… (more…)

Britney the train wreck?

Now, I’m not a big fan of Britney Spears.  However, it just gets a bit tiresome seeing all the media posse toot exactly the same horn in the form of big headlines when a lot of more important things are going on in the world.  Whoring for attention isn’t news to me.  That goes for media as well as their… (more…)

Moxi Tivo

We got Moxi/Tivo last night.  I didn’t like the way the installer set it up so I moved it and made it look a lot more esoterically pleasing.  Then, the step-daughter, the boy, and the wife got home.  I really didn’t get to see it again. From what I have seen so far.  It’s cool.  I hear it has all… (more…)

Slow news days

You know it’s a slow news day when you have headlines like this:  2 NYC Firefighters Hurt in Scaffolding Collapse at Ground Zero Site: Watch Live Now, I really don’t think I want to watch it LIVE.  In fact, I’ll just wish them well and not watch it at all.  That’s the end of that one. But wait, there’s more!… (more…)
