Tara Conner

posted by Moonage

Original Post, April 22, 2006:

Now, this is VERY cool. Check this gal out real good:

Pretty dang sharp huh? That’s the new Miss USA, Tara Conner. What makes this pretty cool to me is Tara is pretty much from, and still lives, in my little community. To say the least, we’re EXTREMELY proud of her! She is the first ever Miss Kentucky to win Miss USA.

UPDATE: December 14, 2006: Apparently Tara’s having some fun in New York! I got a chance to ponder the consequences of these vague insinuations the Don has been making along with others. My thought is how many people today know who Vanessa Williams is? Now, contrast that with who can name the last five Miss USA’s?

And, my second thought was, could this have been a clue?

I don’t think she’s ever promoted the image of being a saint.

I think she’ll do just fine without the title. Probably a good thing to focus on her career a little more than partying at this point. But, she’s definitely got the “talent” a lot of studios are looking for!

UPDATE: December 16, 2006: Well, the story is out that Tara’s already been stripped of her crown due to bad behavior. Don’t know how much truth there is to it, but given all the speculation going on, I either believe it’s true now or will be very shortly. What a shame. It’s pretty amazing to me that New York City apparently can’t handle a Kentucky gal. I’ve always known that personally. Wonder if Tara will hook up with Paris/Britney/Lindsey now?

UPDATE December 19, 2006: Well, looks like Tara’s hanging around for a few more months. Also looks to me like The Don manufactured a billion dollars worth of free publicity. I mean, after all the headlines, all the gossip, all the blogging, and all the media hoopla, nothing actually happened. There are no pictures, there is no actual scandal, there is nothing. The only thing that happened was millions of people talked about something after May they haven’t talked about since Vanessa Williams.

You can donate to the Red Cross to assist specifically in aide for the victims of Katrina.

I already have donated.  They take contributions as little as $5, so there’s no excuse for anyone who can afford to connect to the internet and read this page not to donate something.

Stem Cell Research

posted by Moonage

The issue of stem cell research has been horribly abused politically of late.  The resulting victim of it all is the actual stem cell research.  Kerry and the dems ran a campaign that implied stem cell research is legally limited.  Millions of people bought into that argument.  The fact is, it’s not.  In the private sector, any stem cell line can be explored.

Now, here’s the chance for all the Bush bashers to take their wrath out on me.  This is how you do it, OK?  It’s pretty simple:

Start off by going to this site, all you have to do is click on the banner below:

Make a donation, any donation.  I don’t care if it’s $1.  They might, but I don’t.  It’s all tax deductible, so you’re not even out the $1.  Now, when you make that donation, if by phone or by email, make a special request that this money be earmarked for projects not covered by federal spending restrictions.

See what they say.

Shameless plug for Eflorial

posted by Moonage

My buddy Emmanuel Florial has released a book!  This is cool, people.  You can find it here.  It’s a collection of poetry that would be perfect for a Christmas gift.  From what I’ve read so far from Emmanuel, it should be very thought provoking.  His stuff I have read reminds me a lot of the Beatnik days, which I miss a lot. ( OK, I wasn’t there, but I’ve read some of it. )  Check out Emmanuel’s stuff and help him out if you can!
