High School basketball player passes to mentally challenged player on the other team

This is what it’s all about: Great, great, kids!

The Boogie Man of Rupp Arena

I’ve seen the Boogie Man dance at a few games. It’s fun enough. There are lots of goofy people at ballgames, so I never thought much about it. Dancing to Mony Mony just never struck me as odd. The story of the Boogie Man is something else tho. I’m just going to lift the entire story ( and give credit… (more…)

100-0 and Jake Porter

Recently a girls basketball team beat another girls basketball team 100-0.  Sounsd impressive at first glance.  However, the girls on the zero end of the score were handicapped to varying degress.  And, to make matters more embarassing, the girls on the 100 end of the score attend a Christian based school.  Once those details came out, I was less than impressed. … (more…)

Home plate surprise

This is so amazingly cool.  I’ll just steal some of the original story since I can’t do it any better…. ….video of 11-year-old Brad Warnick, joined on the mound by mother Irene and 8-year-old sister Ashley, who thought they were just representing the USS Midway Museum in San Diego in honor of their fathers service in the Navy. Sungha Jung

This kid is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Now, to put this kid in perspective, he’s 11.

My newest idol

When The Who sang “hope I die before I get old“, they had never met John Persinger.  In fact, when they sang it, John Persinger was old enough to draw retirement.  He’s still around.  Here’s a shot of his 100th birthday party:   Needless to say, his plan looks a lot more appealing than The Who’s.

Marcel Marceau has died

I’m at a loss for words.

Union City Bluer

Some kind of psychic karma must have been going on tonight.  No sooner than I posted on the Blondie saga, I read that Hilly Kristal had died.  Hilly Kristal was the founder of CBGB‘s, the venue that launched Blondie and countless other bands of the 70′s and 80′s.  Weird huh?

The Wisdom of Frank Zappa

A while back I did a piece lambasting Rolling Stone.  I was pretty harsh.  However, not nearly as harsh as Frank Zappa was years ago: “Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read.” I shoulda just left well enough alone.
