Looking at things that probably don’t need to be looked at

I was recently made aware of this skit on SNL.  It’s called “The H is O”.  It’s so horrible I couldn’t stop laughing all the way through it.  It starts bad, gets worse, then digs an all time low for television.  It’s a classic!

However, for me, the greatest moment of SNL came the very first broadcast.  When John Belushi took on Joe Cocker, you KNEW this show was going to be great.

In both cases, what made it great was famous musicians not taking themselves the least bit serious.  My vote is on John doing Joe.  There are other great scenes out there as well.  I might go back and look at some of them later….

Of all the GREAT ones who are gone, John Belushi may just be one of the top…what he could have been…sadly not to be.

I have often wondered what John would have accomplished. Although his comedy was outrageous and at that time the best there was, it didn’t always translate well into movies or other media. Plus, his stuff was turning darker on SNL and other performances. So, I’m not sure that he would have gotten any better if he had lived. So many comics come out of the SNL factory and just seem to fall flat on their faces when they leave. I think a lot of it is SNL relies on improv. Truly great minds excel at improv. Truly great actors make funny movies. Sometimes a comic possesses both qualities, more often not. John was possibly the absolute best at improv. He possibly could have been another Robin Williams. But, then again, judging from 1941, he could have been the next Bill Murray ( a few good scenes, a ton of very bad ones. )

Long Road out of nowhere (Eden)…

The Eagles have released a new album.  It’s their first one in a while.  They entered the scene with a bang in 1972 and really hit it beyond big with Hotel California in 1976.  Finally, in 1979 they recorded The Long Run.  That marked the end…
