One would hope so. But, given the tone of the rest of the site, I don't think it is.

I obviously don't have a clue how they could come to their conclusion. No one ever enlightened me. However, given the nature of the person who put this list together, I'm fairly certain he never listened to any of those. I mean, I've never even heard of them, or a lot of bands on that list. So, it seems to me this guy's counter-intuitive ( read, kinda dumb ), in that he's now promoting the bands he's protesting.

Well, lot of content there John. I grew up mid 70's to early 80's, when liking gay bands became vogue. Now, it was fine to listen to and appreciate gay bands, amd it was fine to look kinda gay, but, that didn't automatically mean you enjoyed taking it up the butt. There's a not-so-fine line there. My point is the purely physical one in that aspect. Shocking people by dressing like Elton John,Freddie Mercury, or George Michael was one thing, doing it a different universe. If you were gonna do it, you did it.

I always appreciated the Dolls and PSB, never really could get into their music that much. At least with the Boys, the chicks dug it if you danced to their stuff.

And, I'll definitely check out Panzy Division, sounds like a fun band!

re: "I think it's fairly obvious that music, no matter how strange, can't make anyone gay in the first place."That may be true to a degree, but on the other hand - these days "gay" is often just a lifestyle or identity - that kids do pick up and act out, without actually being gay, when they go through a self-discovery phase. It's not much different than youth becoming punks, jocks, greasers, stoners, goths, av geeks, wiggers, etc., queer has officially been added to that list. But on a more serious note, my fave gay band of all time would be Panzy Division - they even did a great Nirvana cover, called Smells Like Queer Spirit.I've always seen The Smiths/Morrissy as simply British, Manchester iirc. Having lived on the US/Canadian border most my life, I can say that Americans really don't relate to or appreciate good British pop music the way others do, for whatever reason. And I can't believe the Pet Shop Boys & New York Dolls didn't make their list.. the latter btw put out one of the best rock albums of '06.

Cole Porter was quite gay. However, I have never noticed anything gay about his music. In the old days, people weren't quite as overt about their sexuality as they became in the 70's.

However, although I didn't come right out and state it, I think it's fairly obvious that music, no matter how strange, can't make anyone gay in the first place. I don't even get the point of their post. I mean, how could listening to a testosterone driven homophobic heterosexual male in a loin cloth make you gay?
