This is just weird.  It’s performance art, I know, with a little "magic" and special effects tossed in I guess.  Regardless, I LIKE it!

Where in the world is Tobi Gutt?

posted by Moonage

Dressed for the Australian summer in t-shirt and shorts, Tobi Gutt left Germany on Saturday for a four-week holiday.

Instead of arriving “down under”, Gutt found himself on a different continent and bound for the chilly state of Montana.

Forecast for Sydney, Australia today, high about 74, low about 67.  Weather for where Tobi is right now: High 27, low 0.  And, no babe to warm him up.  That has got to be the most disappointed dude on the planet right now.

Mariah Carey isn’t a porn star?

posted by Moonage

( Not terribly safe for work! But it is THAT important! )

Another goodie from The Smoking Gun.  Get this:

This:

Thinks it takes a lawsuit to keep people from confusing her with this:

Do I really need to say more? The only thing I would add is that the only chance Mariah has of being remembered much beyond this year at all is if people DO think she’s Mary Carey.  I mean, which one of the two dined at the White House last year?  Honestly, I have never liked Mariah.  And, if you read Mary’s bio, you’d root for her too.  Egotistical shreiking has-been diva vs a young girl beating pretty much all odds to wind up dining in the White House and running for governor of California.

Excuse me while I wipe my eyes again.  Not so much for the sob story about Mary, but honestly, every time I think about this, it brings tears to my eyes.  Is there a Mariah fan left who wants to defend her on this one?  If so, please post here.  I’m having an extremely hard time figuring out what The Opposer is thinking on this one.  I really, really, am.

As the Duke Rape Case Turns

posted by Moonage

This, for odd reasons, seems to have hardly been noticed by main stream media, so far:

In a stunning rebuke to the North Carolina district attorney handling the Duke University rape case, the state bar today filed an ethics complaint against the prosecutor, claiming that he has made numerous press statements that were “prejudicial to the administration of justice” and also “engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.” The North Carolina State Bar’s complaint…

The “media” source I got this from? The Smoking Gun. I get all kinds of good stuff from there. Definitely read the complaint, it really trashes Nifong big time. And, IMO, justifiably so. I think Nifong’s in deep doo doo.

Poland’s Hot for pageant gals?

posted by Moonage

I have the usual freebie site trackers running.  Every so often I like to sort of check on who’s visiting, where they’re from, what they’re visiting, etc..  I did so just now and got kind of a surprise:

Poland's hot for pageant babes

Those aren’t page hits, they’re unique visitors.  I’m not sure I’ve ever had a day blogging where the US wasn’t #1 by a long shot.  And, what’s even stranger to me is every, single, one, hit the same page

That’s the Pavlov’s Dog category for those not interested in following the link.  It’s not from one site, it’s not even from one city, it’s all over Poland.  Apparently Poland’s just a bunch of horn dogs!  ( Don’t fret it Poles, being from Kentucky, that’s a GOOD thing! )

The hardest working man in showbiz has finally retired.  James Brown died last night.  He was the man who infused soul into the public mainstream and made it work.  He’ll be remembered forever for yelling “High! I feel GOOD!” I can’t think of a better way to be remembered.  Here’s how I remember him:

Original post, August 14, 2004:

Ever do one of those things in college that sounded really good at the time, but when thinking back, probably wouldn’t have done it? I used to do that an awful lot.

For Christmas break, 1985, Mike, Bobby, me, and Craig decided to go to Washington, DC to ring in the new year.

Sounds simple enough so far. To top it off, Washington was hosting a free New Year’s Eve bash featuring none other than one of my all-time favorite performers, Mr. James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. Still sounds simple enough? Well, this is where it gets interesting.

When we showed up for the show, there about 10,000 black people, and us. For the very first time in my entire life, I knew, without any reservation or question, what it felt like to be a minority in a big city. I’m not exaggerating here. Things went fine for a long time, however, after a point, these gangs started doing these lines dances where they would form a chain, push the crowd back as far as they could or felt like, then ram themselves into the crowd on the other side. They did this repeatedly. Well, my buddy Craig, the one in the hat, decided he’d had enough of that. So, the next time they came through, they proceeded to start pushing the crowd back, and one got too close to Craig, so Craig promptly punched one guy in the face and kicked the other in the nuts. I knew right then my life as I had known it was completely over, we were dead. Well, what Craig effectively did was sever the last 3 or 4 guys of the gang from the rest of the pack. Now, I’m a pretty scrawny guy, but Craig’s pretty stout, Bobby’s pretty stout ( they both played linebacker in school ), and Mike’s about 6′6″ tall. With me pretty much hidden in back, they looked effective. And, to top it off, when the other guys started to pose for a fight, a bunch of REALLY big guys jumped in beside us, black and white. The 3 or 4 stragglers were greatly outnumbered at that point. Then the strangest thing happened. The 3 or 4 gang members started dancing, and danced theirselves away. We enjoyed the rest of the show unbothered by the “chain” gang. We did learn however, that one person did get killed at that show. That’s when it set in that we probably wouldn’t be doing that again. But for one night, it was a blast.

The Bengals and the kick

posted by Moonage

Bengals blow it, againThe Bengals hadn’t beaten Denver in Denver since 1975.  Quite a record of futility.  The Bengals also haven’t had consecutive winning seasons since 1981.  That’s 25 years.  I was a teen the last time they pulled that off.  Tonight the playoffs, as well as a winning seasons, were on the line in Denver.  Now, Denver, like the Colts the week before, have been in a rut, basically playing themselves out of the playoffs.  So, the Bengals promptly march into Denver, Carson Palmer, the miracle rookie of last year, promptly overthrows about half a dozen passes, including one in the end-zone.  Nevertheless, due to a super-efficient drive to end the game, they were within one point of ending 31 years of not winning in Denver, 25 years of consecutive winning seasons, and, guaranteeing a spot in the playoffs.  The only thing left to send the game into overtime with momentum squarely in favor of the Bengals was the extra point.  Shayne Graham, the kicker had hit 158 consecutive extra points.  He never got a chance.  The center snapped the ball like a rocket well beyond the reach of the place holder.  There never was a kick.  However, the Bengals did a snazzy fake onside kick to get the ball back.  Only problem was, one of the players ran a few inches beyond the ball before the kick.  That’s not allowed.  Second try, they fake kicked it 20 yards downfield safely beyond any Bengals players and safely into the arms of the Broncos.  Game over.  Season most likely over.  As sharp as the Bengals were last year, they were undisciplined, erratic, and just plain clumsy this year.  Usually I dismiss them about three games into the season.  However, I know Marvin Lewis is a hell of a coach.  And, I know they have a ton of talent.  However, what they seem to lack at this point is brains.  I place the blame for the erratic offense squarely on the fact that two star players didn’t have the God given sense to let someone else drive the car when they were partying.  Eight players were arrested this year, several missed key games due to suspensions.  Lewis can only teach them football.  What he can not teach them is common sense and pride in their team and themselves.  By not considering the consequences, Chris Henry, an especially dangerous receiver and main target of Palmer, missed several games. Two of the games he missed the Bengals lost by less than a touchdown, blame those two on Henry.  Given his criminal record, might miss a lot more next season.  The Bengals’ defense last year carried them a long way as they intercepted a ton of passes.  The primary person responsible for that feat was Deltha O’Neal with 10 interceptions.  Due to his inability to find a designated driver, he missed four games.  His total production this year?  One lousy interception.  Blame the porous defense primarily on him.  Now, these idiots will claim their off-field problems haven’t hurt the team, but the evidence is in the pudding.  The botched snap would not have meant a thing if Henry had been able to catch a touchdown against Tampa Bay.  How distracted are they playing when they spend practice time meeting with their lawyers and appearing in court?  Bottom line, they are not concentrating 100% on winning.  When that happens, you lose by 1 point to a team on a losing streak.  And, you lose by eighteen points to a team that can’t even beat the Houston Texans or Tennessee Titans.  So, there’s no need to cry over the botched kick.  There is reason, if you’re a Bengal fan, to be really pissed that the kick ever meant something in the first place.  As talented as O’Neal, Henry, and the others think they are, I think Lewis needs to clean house.  I am betting Lewis thinks the same thing.  This year, there wasn’t much Lewis could do about it.  Next year, if they are still out of jail, and still on the team, Lewis will have a laser focused on his forehead.  And, if those idiots haven’t totally cleaned up their act, the fans will be aiming at Lewis.

Yeah, I’m a disgruntled Bengal fan right now.

Rosie v The Donald, Round whatever

posted by Moonage

Every now and then media, gets it right.  Rosie and The Donald are duking it out, calling each other horrible names while claiming the upper hand in who has the better morals.  Foxnews looked at them where it truly matters, what they give back to society.  Surprisingly, the winner in that match is Rosie:

The answer: Rosie, as it turns out. Her For All the Kids Foundation gave away $1.9 million in 2004-2005 to children’s charities all over the United States. This is pretty remarkable, and something I didn’t know about it until I looked it up. The foundation benefits groups that help at risk kids, and even put a big chunk of change toward rebuilding a Head Start center in New York.

Trump is no slouch by any means when it comes to giving. But according to federal tax records and guidestar.org, his donations are substantially less than O’Donnell’s. In 2003-2004, his Donald J. Trump Foundation gave away $725,000 to a host of charities. While O’Donnell’s charities focus on her personal passion, children, Trump is more generic in his selections. The biggest winner was the United Way of New York City, with $250,000. His second favorite choices were the Police Athletic League and Damon Runyon Cancer Research, each with $100,000.

Now, supposedly, The Donald has a LOT more cash than Rosie.  He can win this match without really trying all that hard.  But, he hasn’t.  Roger Friedman is calling for a charity war instead of a verbal tit-for-tat.  I’m all for that as well.  The Donald may have more cash, but I bet Rosie has more exposure.  Instead of talking trash on her show, which I think is losing its appeal, she could be harassing Hollyweird stars to contribute to her war with the The Donald.

Then, everyone’s a winner.

The Donald gets Rosie

posted by Moonage

Rosie O’Donnell decided to weigh in on the Tara Conner events. She wasn’t terribly flattering:

“There he is, hair looping, going everyone, everyone deserves a second chance,” she began. “He’s the moral authority? Left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for twenty year olds in America. Donald, sit and spin, my friend.”

And, then attacked pageant contestants in general:

“It’s basically a model competition … They have one question in Miss USA, yeah and they’re like ‘I’d like to cure cancer and end world hunger — and then I’d like to go to Studio 54 and do some crack.’”

To which The Donald decided he’d had enough and is going to sue Rosie:

“She says things that come to her mouth, she’s not smart, she’s crude, she’s ignorant and to be honest I look forward to suing Rosie,” he told our cameras. “I’m gonna sue her and I look forward to it. She’s really very dangerous for the show.”

But, that wasn’t good enough:

“Rosie’s been a loser for a long time,” he told Access. Her magazine failed, she got sued. She folded up like a tent.”

He also sent a stern warning over O’Donnell’s outburst and suggested she watch her partner.

Now, I don’t usually follow Hollyweird personality conflicts. This one I think I’m gonna keep up with. However, since I absolutely NEVER watch The View ( i do have a life during that particular time slot ), will someone please tell me exactly why Rosie is on the show? And, for the time being, let’s take a poll!

Those wild and crazy pageant gals

posted by Moonage

No sooner than local gal Tara Conner got off the hook, at least temporarily, for behaving badly, The Donald now has to deal with this:

Katie Rees

That’s Miss Nevada, Katie Rees, licking her pal.  Now, ten years ago, guys all over the planet would have been getting, well, kinda hot and bothered by a scene like this.  It just didn’t happen very often.  So, it was like, what every man aspired for.  Now, however, things have changed a little and it’s like the trend of the year.  For example, if you search Google images, you get about 21,300 girls kissing.  That’s a lot of girls kissing.  So, I’m not quite as shocked by her behavior as Foxnews.  The Church Lady might not approve, but it doesn’t bother me.  The punishment for Katie is probably already in the fact that her tongue, among other parts, is going to be all over the internet for eternity.

UPDATE: December 22, 2006: Katie did get kicked off. Lesson learned for pageant gals in the future: If you’re gonna act bad, don’t do it in front of cameras!
